You really can’t make shit like this up: Lynn Hefley, wife of CD-5 US Rep Joel Hefley, contributed a recipe to the Colorado Federation of Republican Women’s Cookbook called: “Tunnel of Fudge Cake”.

See for yourself:

I think Josh meant to post this photo from Squirrel 400’s Flickr set:

For those of you who’ve been following Ursen’s stacking etymology evolution, Josh has kindly brought us a more accurate image to match the definition (speaks for itself):

From 6abc and Action News in Philadelphia, a trapped squirrel makes the news.

Squirrel Proves Tough Nut to Crack

I guess not much else is going on these days. Especially here at the Toilet Paper. Bo-ring…

I know Noel’s tired of me shamelessly exploiting the TP blog for my own commercial enterprises, but he’s in Hawaii now so, whatevs.

For those of you in Colorado Springs, be aware:  Geeks Who Drink kicks off its weekly Pub Quiz at McCabe’s Tavern (formerly The Wayfarer), 520 S. Tejon. Start time: 8pm.

Just so we’re clear: This is not one of those NTN Trivia things with a video screen. Nor is it a DJ-driven "Trivia Night" wherein each question is punctuated by a mediocre pop song and after an hour you’ve answered all of 8 questions.

If you’ve played quizzo in Philly or a proper Pub Quiz in Ireland, The UK, New York or SF  you’ll probably have an idea of what to expect. If not, here’s  a bit more.

Did I mention there’s no cover?Temp_logo

Contributors to this blog will be making appearances as Guest Quizmasters in the coming weeks. Even if they don’t know that yet.  Yes, this means you: Noel Black, Brian Arnot and Craig Richardson.

I’ve even got a commitment from the John Hazlehurst...

In the meantime, read  our exclusive interview with your fine  Quizmaster  and TP contributor Aaron Retka here.

Again, this Wednesday at 8pm. McCabe’s Tavern on S. Tejon. Free.

Grant McLennan (front) of the Go-Betweens died yesterday at 48, in his sleep apparently. A great songwriter. They were the first band I ever interviewed. Actually, it was just Robert Forster. But I got to see them shortly thereafter in San Francisco on the and Mr. McLennan was a swell fellow and a great presence. Sad day for pop music.

Our sad little puppy dog who doesn’t like people very much has run away and is still at large somewhere in Colorado Springs. He was last seen in the neighborhood near the Blue Star and Bristol Brewery. He probably won’t come to you if you do see him, but please call the pound at 473-1741 and let them know so they can pick him up. Here’s his picture (he’s about 30 pounds and looks like a cross between a Scotty and a Schnauzer).

My own young’n has decided to challenge Ursen’s non sequiturs.  Ruby’s latest offering, to her mother: "I want my boobs to be bigger than yours. I want them to be so big I have to use a wheelchair!"

The Gazette reports today that Colorado Springs “lacked an event coordinator” for the National Day of Prayer, and will therefore have entirely low-key celebrations. Hard to believe considering that, “The day’s largest coordinating body, the National Day of Prayer Task Force, is an evangelical Christian organization based in Colorado Springs.”

Here are some more fun facts and info about the author of the National day of Prayer prayer:

Jim Weidmann, vice chairman of the National Day of Prayer task force, said he isn’t surprised the volunteer job went unfilled this year.
The task force focuses on what’s happening nationally, and can’t manage citywide events, even when there’s a vacuum in the task force’s backyard, he said.
The National Day of Prayer Task Force is headed by Shirley Dobson, wife of Focus on the Family founder James Dobson. The organization, run from offices in Focus’ Briargate campus, is an umbrella organization for thousands of events nationwide, including a three-hour Day of Prayer event on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Christian recording artist Rebecca St. James recorded a song for the task force’s events, and Henry Blackaby wrote the Day of Prayer prayer, which will be read at task force events.
