says Nasa chief. Really, it’s always been around, Michael Griffin says. In fact, it might even make things better… you never know!

Behold, just seen at the ‘Zette:

We here at Newspeak are proud to proclaim that we are a KFC banner ad-free site. Yuk yuk.
(Also, some guy did an analysis of the Colonel’s Secret Recipe a few years ago. It is as follows:
—Flour
—Sugar
—Salt
—Pepper
—MSG
You’re now better informed, and without crazy corporate banners. Bitte schön.)

This is a deleted scene from the upcoming Knocked Up, Judd Apatow’s next tale of sweetness. As Slog pointed out, Apatow has always been pretty deft with gay themes while still retaining a ton of humor. Enjoy.

The ‘Zette reported this morning that UCCS is the first university in the land to offer a Ph.D in the exciting, fast-growing academic field of Homeland Security. The article says the program is targeted at three types of students:
- Instructors who will be qualified to teach master’s programs, which have multiplied in recent years.
- Researchers who can help influence policies and work through the
theoretical and political challenges associated with the field. They
might be employed at think tanks and government agencies that help
shape public policy.
- Workers in the field, from high-level emergency directors to
military brass, who could apply the broader academic knowledge to
real-life situations.
Currently, homeland security degrees or certificates are available at places like George Washington University, Northeastern and Ohio State in addition to the billions of online or associate-degree schools whose other programs include radiator repair and advanced sit-ups.
But hey, we’ll soon have Doctors of Homeland Security walking around, and it’s not much of a surprise that our town started it, what with replacing “Scientia et Mathematica” with “These Colors Don’t Run.”

Pete, of the Nicotine Fits and Olde World Bagel fame, found this taped to an electrical box on the corner of Union & Pikes Peak. I insisted he let me post it for all to enjoy. One might call it street blogging. I’m glad I read it, my relationship(s) are so much better because of it. Thanks All Wheel Drive!
