I have a head cold and I used to be a big fan of the big pot of fresh ginger/lemon/honey tea, but I ran into this young lady named Kate Dawson recently who had the snuffles and was drinking chile/lime/honey tea. So I made a big batch of it last night: dry red chiles, a whole lime squeezed and then dropped in and about three heaping teaspoons of honey in a large pot, boil for half an hour and then remove limes and chiles (optional, but lime peel eventually gets really bitter and the chiles just keep getting hotter). And damn if it wasn’t good. Same general effects of ginger/lemon/honey: sinuses open up and antiibiotic chiles course through veins, tangly lime vitamin C absorbed, bee vomit takes the edge off.
Enjoy!
