What incredible futuristic world do we live in, where bridges shall span the skies! Hovercars and pneumatic people-tubes cannot be far behind!

We’ve gotten $110 $140 in donations so far, which leaves us $390 $360 to go. If 13 12 people will send us $30 bucks we’re there!
Once again, the details: We’re hoping this effort will allow us to keep our ads as incredibly cheap for our wonderful independent local advertisers and help us provide even better, uncensored content. No, your contribution is not tax deductible, but it’s also really cheap and here’s the great thing: you get your name (or a pseudonym if you prefer) on a big full page ad for entire year (sorry, no business names).
Please go to paypal.com, click “SEND MONEY” and enter newspeakmag@gmail.com as the recipient, or send us a check payable to Newspeak at 29 E. Bijou #22, COS, CO 80903.

From the Pride Center:
Pride Center Says ‘NO’ to the “COLORADO CIVIL RIGHTS INITIATIVE” -
Don’t Sign! It’s AMENDMENT 2 All Over Again! The Pride Center opposes the Colorado Civil Rights Initiative. If
asked to sign this petition, be aware it will work to DESTROY Equal
Rights in Colorado! The Colorado Civil Rights Initiative opens with the following
language: “The state shall not discriminate against or grant
preferential treatment to any group or individual on the basis of
race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of
public employment, public contracting, or public education.”While this may sound great for supporters of equal rights, what you
may not realize is that the phrase “or grant preferential treatment”
will effectively REMOVE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IN COLORADO.If you see this language, don’t sign!!!
DECLINE TO SIGN THE COLORADO CIVIL RIGHTS PETITION! IT IS AMENDMENT 2
ALL OVER AGAIN!California millionaire Ward Connerly and a far-right fringe in
Colorado are gathering signatures on a petition to amend the Colorado
State Constitution. This sneaky and Amendment 2-like law is being
called the “Colorado Civil Rights Initiative”. The petition never
mentions the words “affirmative action”. But if successful, it will
result in the end of all affirmative action programs for women, LGBT
people and people of color in the state, including programs in
education, employment and contracts. Remember - Affirmative Action is
NOT about quotas. It’s about ensuring all people have access to equal
opportunity. Connerly and his cohorts need only 76,000 valid voter
signatures to get this attack onto the ballot in November 2008. We can
stop them before this makes it to the ballot: DECLINE TO SIGN!If you are approached to sign petitions for the so-called Colorado
Civil Rights Initiative, remember:- This petition threatens the important progress Colorado has made
toward equal opportunity for women, LGBT people and people of color in
education, employment and state contracts.- This petition threatens to resegregate the faculty and student body
at CU-Boulder.- This petition threatens to end programs to introduce girls to
careers in math, science and engineering.- This petition threatens services provided to two Ute tribes through
the State Commission on Indian affairs.- This petition would help outlaw all affirmative action for women,
LGBT people and people of color in Colorado including outreach,
training and mentoring programs.- This petition is dangerous and divisive - Decline to sign!!!
- This petition is an attack on equal opportunity
The Pride Center will continue to provide information about this
deceptive initiative so that we can prevent another AMENDMENT 2 in
Colorado.MORE BACKGROUND FROM COLORADO UNITY:
THIS PETITION WILL TURN BACK THE CLOCK
The State of Colorado has made precious progress toward equality and
integration. Affirmative action has been critical to the progress that
we have achieved so far. Women now earn approximately 77 cents to
every dollar earned by a man. Latinos and African-Americans have
progressed in education and employment. But it is obvious that we
still have a long way to go. Equal opportunity and affirmative action,
a modest measure designed to help level the playing field, will help
us get there. Don’t sign away equal opportunity. If you are approached
by a petition carrier…Decline to sign!!!THIS PETITION IS DECEPTIVE
This effort is an attempt to hoodwink Colorado voters into
dismantling equal opportunity through a so-called “civil rights
initiative”, the real aim of which is to overturn laws and programs
that the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s, and the Women’s
Rights Movement of the 70s and 80s, secured in Colorado. Even if the
petition carrier who approaches you is African-American, LGBT, Latino
or a woman, remember that this is an attempt to fool you. Decline to
sign!!!TAKE ACTION!
Have you witnessed or heard about troubling occurrences involving
CCRI petition carriers? Tell us about it! Call Colorado Unity at

From a tipster via the AP wire:
The White House says he (Boosh, who is visiting Colo today) also plans to meet with Jeanne Assam, the volunteer security guard who wounded a gunman at New Life Church in Colorado Springs before he killed himself after a deadly rampage December 9th.
Hardy har. Wonder if God found her that man yet?

Brought to you by Richard Arnot and Jason W. Herzog (who throw Nocturnal Mockery art show). I’ve gotten a little peep into the gallery and this is going to be an exciting opening. It’s a big space and these two have so much positive energy they add to the scene. Visit Edifice Clothing for more info. And go to the show and buy some amazing local art!

Hello everyone. All Breed Rescue & Training (www.haveanicedog.org) is in desperate need for foster homes. We have just pulled several dogs from the Humane Society and have several more waiting there. I have copied the descriptions of the dogs below. If you or anyone you know might be interested in fostering one of these guys, please reply to my e-mail address: lydia.cayton-holland@csallbreed.org. I am currently fostering one of the puppies, so I’ve included a picture so you can have an idea of what they look like. Thank you for reading!
1. Shih Tzu - 2-3 year old - neutered male - Black/White
- ~15# - This little guy is a matted mess, but he is getting groomed
tomorrow 1/30 by Sarah Haney @ Country K-9’s, Thanks Sarah! He is very
scared when you first meet him, and if you are not soft and quiet with
him, he will act out. However, if you have patience and let him come to
you, he is the sweetest, most loving little guy. He loves to play,
wrestle and chase toys. He climbed onto my lap, nudged me for more
attention, and gave lots of kisses. He will be a wonderful little lap
dog if someone takes the time to get to know him. I pulled him from the
humane society today, as it was his last day, but really need a foster
home for him ASAP!
2. Five - 9 week old puppies:
They are
mixed with some or all of the following breeds: Siberian Husky;
Australian Shepherd; Chow Chow; Akita; and perhaps Great Pyrenees. Some
of the puppies have tails and some do not. Their weight range may be as
adults from 75lbs - 120lbs. These puppies need proper socialization
(meaning working with them, but not overwhelming them) and someone who
either has some experience working with under socialized puppies or is
willing to learn step by step what to do. They will need to start in
puppy class at our facility ASAP.
I have the pups listed in order of the most socialization needed to the least:
1. Brownie - Male - big boy
2. Roy - Male - big boy
3. Maria - female - big female
4. Elaina - female - 2nd smallest female
5. Polar Bear - male - big boy
These
puppies have been vet checked and are all healthy, and I need them to
go into foster homes by Saturday, February 2nd. Please help us save
these puppies, they need great puppy raisers to help them reach their
full potential and find their forever homes!

And that something appears to be sounding the death knell of Giuliani’s campaign, cuz he’s done. But with McCain taking the top slot there and showing strong in the polls for Super Tuesday, it’s gonna get messy, because he remains the most likable candidate, despite his recent gay-baiting and reacharound to Crazy Base Land. McCain versus Hillary equals another Republican president, and it’s time for the Clintards among us to realize that.
But hey, no more Giuliani. Say buh-bye to Mister 9/11 and the candidate who most clearly has validated the ridiculousness of the last seven years, and hello to a race where repudiation of the Bush presidency is at the locus of the American agenda. About fucking time.
By the way, we’re going to endorse somebody before next Tuesday, once we decide who we want to endorse. It may be a long battle—although I keep explaining to Noel that Hubert H. Humphrey has been dead since 1978, he’s not budging. Stay tuned.
And as for McCain’s reaction:
