Supercool dude and FotP (Friend of the Paper) Dave Voth is having an opening tonight at the Grill Next Door, the place next door (duh) to the Triple Nickel who took over their restaurant space and will be serving up sweet food to the Nickel and their own patrons. I’m not sure if the Grill is up and running quite yet, but the opening should be a parade of good times.

Battlestar Galactica returns this Friday (and you can get caught up here), but first, let’s take a look at the promo photo for the fourth and final season, which is clearly based on, uh, that one famous painting by that one guy. Michael Garman?
Observations:
1) From the left in the original painting, there are two groups of three. The space between Tigh and Apollo (along with the total number of people and with a missing third to the triptych) suggests the mystery Cylon will occupy the place of Judas Iscariot.
2) The Chief holds the knife, as does Peter, except that the knife is pointed toward Jesus/Number Six.
3) Admiral Adama occupies the place of Simon the Zealot but is ignored by everyone else at the table. Is the other Six pointing to him?
4) It’s amazing that I’ve ever had even a little bit of sex.
Any other thoughts, geeks?
UPDATE:
Some sleuthing on my part revealed who the last Cylon is. Behold:

On Saturday, organizers in Topeka massed for the Million Fag March against the certifiably batshit Westboro Baptist Church. The protest included slightly fewer than one million (read: 400) protesters waving signs with “messages of compassion.” Reports the Topeka Capital-Journal:
“It’s about time we did something like this again,” said Hope Prescott, of Topeka, who waved a rainbow banner. “We feel somewhat responsible for the Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church. It’s about time we show our support for gays rights and all rights.”
I like the idea of the people of Topeka taking responsibility for the insanos their town has spawned, but does Westboro really need more attention? Don’t get me wrong—this is the right way to protest, in my mind, as compared to the boring boring-lesbians-at-Focus thing we mentioned last year, but it helps legitimize what Westboro stands for all the same. Isn’t it just time to ignore those fundotards once and for all?
Um, no. I have to admit, I pretty much blogged on this topic just so I could again show some results of our Fred Phelps Photoshop Contest, which took place two years ago but still strikes me as hilarious.

(The winner, by Joseph Kleene.)
Okay, commence ignoring Westboro now.

Ursen composed this note to the Tooth Fairy upon losing his first top front tooth:

Earth hour has already started.
Join the movement and turn off your lights from 8-9 p.m. tonight. Colorado Springs
will be part of a worldwide event - joining cities such as Copenhagen,
Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne and Tel Aviv in turning off all
non-essential lights and appliances for one hour – Earth Hour.
For that one hour, businesses, landmarks and families will unite to
send the message that energy conservation is not only necessary but
attainable.

It’s “Fascination” by Alphabeat. Why are the Nordic peoples so skilled at creating happy, singable, danceable bubblegum? Ah, yes—universal health care, working social programs, free college and the Euro, not to mention awesome shared heritage of horned helmets. Jeg er lykkelig over at leve!
