Art, Let's Win!

February 09

Fresh back from a week far, far away (Historic battlefields! My sister giggling! Her husband’s brave escape from a straitjacket! Free museums in DC! Rhys and Cristi! Ellie! The National Aquarium!), I hereby present a friendly aggregation of the top stories I read and found interesting while I ate my lunch:

Times Square is going walkable

Pentagon lifts ban on photographing homecoming of war dead.

First family enjoys night out at an (gasp!) arts event

Massive restructuring of District 11

My new favorite blog (why, why, why were Sweet Valley High books marketed to young girls?)

And just for fun, here’s an oldie and a goodie!

of course you can also visit the paper’s website to read the article in full. though businessinsider.com has some good articles & discussions on how badly NYC is doing.

Imagine, O imagine, COSers, if downtown went the Bloomberg way: tax the shit out of cars downtown to reduce traffic and fund/promote public transportation, transform Tejon into an outdoor pedestrian mall, and put cheap, practical rental bikes all over the place. In a year’s time, poor, suffering downtown would be an urban mecca for residents and visitors alike. Huh to the zah!
