Re: Warning: This is some powerful shit.

Pretty sure I posted this like two years ago, but its power still overwhelms.

And this one is just funny. Please ignore the gratuitious Dumbledore stuff at the end.

Guess who has a blog?

Picture_1

Duh! The Ultimate Warrior! He calls his adorable li'l collection of opinions "The Warrior's Machete" and offers the following warning on the splash page:

I do NOT tolerate political-correctness and moral relativity when I discuss ideas that actually have to do with making life work; in my opinion, these are the two gravest dangers mankind faces today. There is a radical over-sensitivity today to the use of certain words and what "concepts" those words actually mean and represent. I don't pay attention to that sensitivity. I believe words mean things and I don't compromise what their meanings are. I do not pull my verbal, worded punches when I opine on ideas and issues.

I am also NOT confused about my gender. I have no desire to tone down the nature of the sex I am. I am a male and am proud to be a man. I will often forcefully punctuate my points and positions on ideas and issues with manly language. I make no apologies.

You tell 'em, Warrior! And then weigh in with some homophobic drivel about how Hedge Ledger deserved to die! You're still the king! Not irrelevant at all!

Musta been chasing an altar boy....

This just in from freaky Frederick, Colo:

A Catholic priest faces an indecent exposure charge after police said he went jogging in the nude about an hour before sunrise in Frederick.

The Reverend Robert Whipkey told officers he had been running naked at a high school track, and didn't think anyone would be around at that time of day.

Whipkey told officers he sweats profusely if he wears clothing while jogging. A police report indicates Whipkey told police that he knew what he did was wrong.

Whipkey did not return phone messages. Attorney Doug Tisdale told the Daily Times-Call in Longmont that Whipkey had no comment.

Police arrested the 53-year-old Whipkey on June 22nd.

The Archdiocese of Denver says it takes the incident seriously, but is awaiting the outcome of the case.

Post: Springs Might Not Hate Gays, Sorta

Rehab for Springs' anti-gay image is a slow dance
By Diane Carman
Denver Post Staff Columnist
Article Last Updated: 04/25/2007 09:57:10 PM MDT

Mike Kazmierski wants the world to know that not everybody in Colorado Springs - home of Focus on the Family, the anti-gay-marriage amendment, the anti-domestic-partnership initiative and Will Perkins - is a flaming anti-gay-rights activist.
"We're really very diverse," said the president of the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corp.
Trouble is, Amendment 2, the anti-gay-rights measure born in the Springs in 1991, created an enduring image of the city as an unwelcoming - even hostile - place.

Jeff Sharlet's Explication of Evangelical Homo-Code from 2005

It's interesting to read this article at Nerve.com, in which Jeff Sharlet (author of Soldier's of Christ) deconstructs the language of evangelical men's literature. It's a bit convoluted, but graphs like the following pop, especially when you consider they were written in April, 2005.

But with Christian womanhood restored and redeemed, a crucial character in the Christian conservative morality play has gone missing: the seductress. It is no longer acceptable to speak of loose women and harlots, since sexual promiscuity in a woman is the fault of the man who has failed to exercise his "headship" over her. It is his effeminacy, not hers, that is to blame. And who lures him into this spiritual castration? The gay man.

And this:

They love the gay man because he is a siren, and his song is alluring; and because they believe that the siren is nonetheless stranded at sea, singing in desperation from a slippery perch on a jagged outcrop of stone. The gay man, they imagine, is calling to them; and they believe they are calling back — as if all of human sexuality was a grand and tragic game of Marco Polo.

Comment of the Day

This comment came to us on the Gay or Fey? post from "Michael," who says he went to Oral Roberts with many New Lifers including Christopher Beard, Ross Parsley, Glenn Packiam and Aaron Stern. Sure, we may be gloating. But come on! Way too many of these people seem to be living way too big of a lie. Thanks Michael!

Had to love finding this! I graduated from Oral Roberts University just like so many of the New Life guys above (plus Ted Haggard and Aaron Stern that somebody brought up in previous posts). I'm also as gay as a goose, even though back in my ol' ORU days I was in (almost) complete denial. I've also been to New Life back during my college days, and our chapel services at school had Haggard and Parsley around a bunch of times over the years. Christopher Beard, Aaron Stern, and Glenn Packiam were all students there at the same time I was too. I met Christopher Beard through a mutual friend...maybe talked to him a couple times. I really doubt he's gay. I'm sure all his transgression amounts to is pre-marital sex with some woman (oh the disgusting shame of it all!) I always thought Ross Parsley was gay from the first time I saw him. Ted Haggard came as no great shock when the news came out. I know nothing about Glenn other than the fact that he played keyboard for the chapel music. As for Aaron Stern...oh man, I hope he's gay. Talked to him a time or two at school as well, and let me assure you he's hotter in person than the picture could ever show. I also wouldn't be one bit surprised to find out he was gay either based upon my appraisals of him in person. There were tons of guys in the faculty and in leadership at the school that were obviously gay, though of course they were as deep in the closet as they could be. Evangelical Christianity has a lot of them, as I would know having once been fully engrossed in it. You either finally accept what you are and move on, as I did. Or, you bury it deeper and deeper as these guys have, and then make spectacles of yourself like Haggard. Sad really, isn't it?
