Coincidence?

So this was mentioned in Oddee's list of the 20 Most Amazing Coincidences:

While American novelist Anne Parrish was browsing bookstores in Paris in the 1920s, she came upon a book that was one of her childhood favorites - Jack Frost and Other Stories. She picked up the old book and showed it to her husband, telling him of the book she fondly remembered as a child. Her husband took the book, opened it, and on the flyleaf found the inscription: "Anne Parrish, 209 N. Weber Street, Colorado Springs." It was Anne's very own book. The further coincidence is that it's a parking lot now, just like every other historic landmark in downtown Springs, and is two blocks from our office! Spooooooky!

Soul Search with Rob Brendle May Issue: Talk Shit Here!

Here is the May issue of Soul Search since the site is behind. Good new is we've got a new site that'll be much easier to use (with forums and even an online radio station!) coming in the next week or two. Until then, use the blog if you want to weigh in on the Rob Brendle column.

Rob Brendle: John, it seems most publicly funded schools now teach "evolutionary science" as the origin of humankind. The public perception of the message from the educational community increasingly is that evolution is a matter of indisputable scientific fact, and any sort of intelligent design is folklore on the plane of Hercules and his winged horse. In reality, evolution seems to require as much faith as any religious teaching. I'm fine with adherents of a humanist religion believing a far-flung theory according to their faith convictions, but I'm not fine with their force-feeding it to my children as scientific fact. I'm not fine with this any more than you, I presume, would be fine with your children's tax-salaried teachers foisting the Garden of Eden on them. So what makes your religious belief superior? Can you prove the theory of evolution?

April Soul Search w/ Rob Brendle from New Life Church and Noel Black from TP

Soul Search:

An ongoing dialogue between The Toilet Paper and evangelical Christian
Rob Brendle, Associate Pastor at New Life Church in Colorado Springs.

Episode #1: The Basics

Noel Black: So first off, tell us a little bit about yourself, what you believe and why the hell you
agreed to do a column in The Toilet Paper.

Rob Brendle: I believe Lionel Ritchie's comeback is for real. I believe KRCC was much better
before they fired Jerome. I believe Scott Peterson, Marilyn Manson, and Howard Stern all had horrible
parents. I believe if you keep eating things like salt or meat or carbs that they say are bad for
you, in ten years they'll be saying they're good for you and you'll be fine. And I believe macrame,
while by all first impressions a colossal waste of time and fine motor attention, is worthy of a quirky
admiration.
