Dentist is checking a boy's teeth

After the removal of your teeth, a dentist will send you home and give you instructions on what you should do that day, what you need and what you should not do. Make sure you get in touch with us and we will give you several tips to reduce the inconvenience and complications after the removal of a tooth.

  1. While Your Gums Are Still DullAvoid Eating

The face, the lips and the gums will feel weird for several hours after receiving anesthesia, and sometimes they hurt or will hurt while eating. We are not aware of this because we do not feel the pain at that moment, and when the anesthetic passes, we do not know what happened. If something like that happens to you, do not start panicking: the mucous membranes in your mouth can quickly become infected. It is wise to remember for the future that it is good to avoid eating while your mouth is still under anesthesia.

  2. When Anesthesia Stops Working You Can Feel the Pain

Do not be afraid of this, even when we scratch the wound, it does not stop the pain at the moment, but it reminds us that it is there in the next few days. Something similar will be felt even after removing your teeth, but do not worry about it – this is quite common.

  3. Choose a Pain Medication That Does Not Contain Acetylsalicylic Acid

It can be any pain medication that suits you otherwise. However, you must keep in mind that you should not take medicines that contain acetylsalicylic acid because instead of calming down the pain it will increase the bleeding. Safety is still the first. Well, it’s better to prevent it than to cure.

  4. Is It Necessary to Put Cold Coating?

The cold coating serves to reduce bleeding and swelling. You can do it by yourself: wrap the ice (or bag of something frozen) in a towel or cloth, and then press the cheek over the place where the tooth is removed. NEVER PUT IT DIRECTLY ON THE WOUND. Hold this position for 10-15 minutes, and rest. You can repeat the whole procedure many times, but only in the first 24 hours – after that, it can no longer help.

  5. Carefully Choose What You Eat

It’s best to choose soft food that day. Keep away from hot foods. The best thing for everyone who had a tooth removed is ice cream which is even recommended, but only one that does not contain nuts, almonds and so on.

  6. Hygiene of the Mouth Is Still Mandatory

Continue to wash your teeth and tongue with the usual moves and means you use. However, skip the place of the removed tooth so as not to injure it further. It is also not advised to wash your mouth, as you could damage it by properly healing the wound.
